The Right Way To Create Jobs

Well it’s been more than three years since the passage of President Obama “stimulus” plan and predictably this approach of spending, borrowing and taxing hasn’t worked. Compounding the problem, the Obama-Reid-Pelosi team passed a health care law the American people didn’t want and have consistently promoted ideas like card check and cap-and-trade, more policies that further stifle job creation.

20,000 Reasons To Build The Keystone XL Pipeline

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and every major labor union estimate the Pipeline will create 250,000 jobs over the course of the project, including 20,000 workers that would have been on the job immediately. For me, that seems like 20,000 good reasons to approve construction of the full pipeline immediately.

Obamacare Debate At The Supreme Court

This week the Supreme Court is hearing arguments on the legality of Obamacare. It will dominate news coverage as it should. In a massive grab for power, President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, expanded the federal government in a way our Founders never intended. And if left unchecked, Obamacare will erode the basic freedoms we cherish.

Statement On Super Committee

With an unprecedented $15 trillion debt, the American people deserve leadership from Congress on cutting spending and putting our economy back on track. We had hoped the super committee would present solutions to these challenges. Unfortunately, they could not come to agreement on anything. This is unacceptable. The stakes are too high to walk away from this discussion so I will be working with my colleagues to get Arkansas and America back on track.

Honor A Veteran Today

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marked the end of World War I. Since then, this date has been celebrated, first as Armistice Day and now as Veterans Day, but no matter what we call it, the day honors our nation’s heroes - those who have served in the military, our veterans.

Issue Updates

Second amendment update: The Obama administration has expressed interest in the UN Arms Trade treaty. I believe this could be a backdoor opening that will chip away at every law abiding citizen’s right to keep and bear arms. I will oppose ratification of an Arms Trade Treaty that in any way restricts the rights of law-abiding American gun owners.

‎4 ways to jumpstart job creation: 1)Simplify the tax code and reduce the corporate tax rate to levels that are comparable with our trading partners; 2) Promote tax policy that encourages innovation; 3) Stop the heavy-handed regulations and give our manufacturers a sense of certainty in terms of the rules under which they have to operate; 4) Open more markets through fair trade agreements.

Obama’s Big Government: The White House is abusing the regulatory process. Last year, the Obama Administration finalized 3,573 new rules—the costs of these new regulations amounted to $1.75 trillion. In 2011, President Obama’s regulatory agenda contains 219 proposed rules that have an economic cost of over $1 billion each. These new rules are hurting our economic recovery and blocking job creation.

Immigration update: I joined 18 of my colleagues in the Senate recently and sent a letter to the President questioning the authority of a Department of Homeland Security policy that allows prosecutorial discretion and administrative closure of deportation cases pending before the courts. Our immigration laws are not being enforced and the President’s polices do not hold illegal immigrants accountable for breaking the law. I am concerned these rules are a step towards amnesty.
