Although it seems like they just finished the last one, Congress is already working on the next farm bill with a target completion date of 2018.
Arkansas Sen. John Boozman says the circumstances are different this time – commodity prices that were high in 2012 and 2013 have moved almost as far in the other direction in 2016 – and farmers are struggling to stay in business.
One thing that hasn’t changed, the senator told board members of the Agricultural Council of Arkansas at their summer meeting at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro is the need to educate other members and the public on the importance of agriculture.
